Microcapsule Development

Microcapsule Development

Insilico develops advanced microcapsules that protect active ingredients and enable precise release control.
These high-performance capsules respond to environmental triggers, supporting innovative applications across industries.

What are Microcapsules?

Microcapsules are particles at the micrometer (μm) scale in which a core material is encapsulated within a specialized polymer shell for protection or controlled release. This technology can reliably safeguard functional ingredients such as fragrances, dyes, pharmaceuticals, or energy substances and allows for controlled release, making it suitable for a wide array of applications in the food, chemical, materials, health, agriculture, and cosmetics sectors.

Key Features

Research Areas

a-01.jpg
Chameleon T, Bichrom T Series

Chameleon T series exhibit color at low temperatures, which disappears as the temperature rises. Bichrom T series are reversible thermochromic microcapsule pigments that change from one color to another as the temperature increases. They offer a range of color-changing temperatures between 0 and 70°C.

Mugs, fabrics, security labels, temperature-sensitive stickers, toys, and heating devices, all suitable for products that provide temperature-dependent visual feedback.

Customization of color-change thresholds, enhancement of heat resistance, color diversification, and long-term durability.

a-04.jpg
Reverse T Series

Reverse T Series are reactive pigments that reveal color when temperature rises, possessing a reaction mechanism opposite to conventional thermochromic microcapsule products. Designed to exhibit color only upon reaching a specific temperature, they provide visual information solely under defined conditions.

Industrial safety indicators, warning labels, high-temperature responsive markings.

Fine-tuning activation temperature, enhancing color visibility, improving durability against repeated thermal shocks.

Chameleon UV, Bichrom P Series

The Chameleon UV and Bichrom P series are light-responsive microcapsule pigments. Chameleon UV is colorless without UV light and reveals color when exposed, while Bichrom P reversibly changes from one color to another under UV light.

Textiles, plastics, coatings, and printing inks, particularly for UV-sensitive products, light-reactive toys, and outdoor safety equipment.

Response speed optimization, lightfastness enhancement, stability under repeated exposure, multi-light-source responsiveness.

a-03.jpg
AromaBall, BioBall Series

AromaBall and BioBall series are microcapsules designed to securely encapsulate fragrances and functional oils, allowing for their sustained release. They help preserve scent and functional ingredients over time, enhancing the consumer experience.

Cosmetics, health supplements, apparel, and household items, particularly suited for products requiring long-lasting scent retention or controlled topical delivery.

Controlled release duration, skin-friendly shell materials, aroma stabilization, encapsulation efficiency.

a-09.jpg
ThermoBall Series

The ThermoBall series consists of functional microcapsules containing phase change material (PCM) that absorb heat as temperatures rise and release it as temperatures fall. Offering superior durability and energy storage compared to competing products, they provide stable and efficient thermal management across diverse applications.

Apparel, bedding, construction materials, secondary batteries, semiconductors, electronics, and automotive applications, particularly where temperature regulation and energy efficiency are essential.

Phase-change temperature tuning, cycle durability, capsule structure reinforcement, improved thermal storage capacity.

Fire Braker Ball Series

Braker Ball Series are spherical polymer capsules (200–250μm in diameter) containing eco-friendly fire-extinguishing agents. When a specific temperature is reached, the capsules automatically rupture, releasing the extinguishing agent to quickly and safely suppress early-stage fires. These provides a clean fire-safety solution with no residue and is harmless to humans and the environment.

Switchboards, electrical rooms, batteries, energy storage systems (ESS), construction materials, textiles, particularly where early fire suppression is critical.

Precision control of release temperature, enhanced weather resistance and lifespan of capsules for diverse fire-safety applications.

Biodegradable Microcapsule

Biodegradable microcapsules fully decompose into water and carbon dioxide through the activity of natural microorganisms. Unlike conventional plastics that persist as microplastics and harm ecosystems, these capsules offer an eco-friendly solution that safely returns to nature.

Cosmetics, textiles, and household goods particularly products with frequent skin contact or those that may impact the environment after disposal.

To encapsulate various functional and fragrance oils, we are replacing conventional plastic shell materials with natural, bio-sourced alternatives.

a-05.jpg

Based on our proprietary thermochromic, photochromic, aroma, and functional microcapsule pigments, Insilico develops both water-based and oil-based specialty inks suitable for a wide range of printing methods.

Screen, flexographic, gravure, and offset printing. These inks are used in branding, security marking, and interactive information transfer for both industrial and consumer products.

Focus on enhancing pigment dispersibility, developing dispersants for ink systems, optimizing dispersion processes, and advancing ink binder technologies.
